Uploading pictures to the website and making a Gallery:
Sign into the harlowsac admin area www.harlowsac.co.uk/admin
Choose the Tab named Gallery
You will see the following:
Choose Create Gallery Tab first:
Type in the Album Name in the field provided.
Click on the button create.
There confirmation that confirms the Album creation.
Now click on the Upload Tab in order to add the pictures to the Gallery.
Please note these will need to be resized to 640 x 480 in order to display correctly in the Gallery.
When the correct size and placed in an area you know they are ie c:\data\bsac\egypt.
In the to album field choose from the list of galleries the one you wish to add the pictures too.
New Upgrade to Gallery upload – Multiple Picture Uploads
To do this you will need to prepare a folder with all the pictures you want to load into the specific gallery and ensure they are the correct size for the upload. When this is done you can complete the following:
If the Gallery has already been created click on the gallery the following window will show.
On picture above note there is now an Upload Images to Album which you click on Upload Pictures and it opens a window browse to the folder your images are in as normal in windows explorer.
If you want to choose multiple pictures either hold the ctrl button down and choose the individual ones or click on the top one of the group you want to upload and hold the shift key then click on the bottom file in the group as pictures above. When happy click on the Open button. You will see the pictures uploading see below each picture will show a progress bar next to each file as it uploads it.
Click on Update and the Gallery is populated with the new pictures.
If the Gallery is not created complete the create a gallery above first. This is multiple images upload option is only for the gallery other images being inserted into a page can only be done individually which is appropriate.
The description is automatically created from the name of the picture so it is ideal to change the name of the picture to one you want to show in the descriptive field. You can change the description detail afterwards if you wish by clicking in the description box and it will change so that you can enter your information.
To edit the Album choose the Edit Album from the tabs available under Gallery you will see the following:
Please note the red message only appears when none of the albums have been ticked as above. If you wish to edit one you will need to click on the edit symbol next to the tick box under the heading Edit and the relevant album will be opened for you to edit it.
You will see all the pictures in the album for you to edit, you can tick the box next to the picture and click on the Delete button to delete from the Album (note not the Gallery it will still be held there).
Click on the Magnifying Glass symbol to view the picture, or click on the hyperlink.
Click on the Update button when complete to apply the changes to the Album.
The Album tab shows a list of all Albums created on the site, this does not mean that they are displayed on the site only created.
To show one for viewing do the following:
Go to the sitemap:
If you need a new folder ie one for Algarve pics. Expand the Gallery area in order to add one using the sign. To add a new Page click on the New button on the right under Actions area.
Complete the form, you must enter details for Page Name, Page alias will be created for you but you can overtype the name if you wish.
Tick the Include in Navigation only when the page is complete and ready to go on the site for viewing when being created you must untick this box.
Meta tags Title enter in here any names that you think that people may put in to search for this ie Algarve, Holidays etc.
Meta Keywords and Meta Description are not required at the moment.
Click on the Optional Options link and select the Parent Page for these it should be at the very least Gallery or if there are multiples named Algarve ie 2007/2008/2009 then the parent page would be Algarve 2007 or Algarve 2008 or Algarve 2009.
Click the Create New Page in the Submit area if you are happy with the completed form.
You will get a message stating Page being created. Redirecting.... when this goes away this opens in the correct place for you to add your gallery as you stated above.
Click in the Add Module area.
The system will say Loading then the following will appear.
For this purpose choose the one that states Gallery.
Using the drop down box Gallery to show please choose the gallery you created earlier. These are listed in Alphabetical Order in the list.
Click save to save your choice.
Please note you cannot view the gallery at this point you will need to click on the View Page button on the top right of the Edit page area.
this will open a new window with the newly created gallery in it.
If you wish to name the page you will need to Delete the module you just created or preferably create the title and information first.
To delete the module click in the module you want to delete it will say loading as above and will give the window above just click on delete module, don't worry it does not delete the album at this point.
The system will ask you to confirm you wish to delete the module
Click on Delete if you are sure if not choose Cancel.
Then click on Add Module and choose Content Module from the list available, type in the text you want when you are happy with this then save.
Go to the second box stating Add module and follow the instructions above to add the gallery.
You can keep amending until you are happy then when you are happy for it to be shown on the site tick the Navigation box and it will show in the area you chose to do this see below:
Click on the Go back to Sitemap, expand the sitemap until you find your page and click on the page you will see the above window choose the Page Properties option and
Click in the box next to the Include in Navigation and click on Save this will now appear in the area you want it to.
If this appears incorrectly, you can move it to the correct location by on the sitemap in the Actions area click on reorder pages, drag you page using the mouse to the location you want it to be and when happy click on pages to take you out of the reorder mode.
All should be well with your new Gallery.
